Choosing Wedding Rings
The first piece jewelry that springs to mind with wedding jewelry is a wedding ring. Which wedding ring do you choose? Which pattern? Which metal? Well we have searched the web to give you all of the options to choose from.
For many people, their wedding ring may be the most expensive or even the only piece of jewelry that they will wear or own. Therefore it is important that the right ring is chosen out of the thousands that are available. The choices are almost endless but I will try and give you a few.
Wedding rings are traditionally worn on the left ring finger because it was believed that the vein in that finger went straight to the heart. Nowadays, the tradition still exists even though modern medical technology has proven the belief wrong. In some parts of the world the wedding band is worn on the right hand ring finger, places such as Norway, Germany, Poland, India or Russia.
The metal the ring is made from is the first and most obvious choice. This can be out of a variety of metals including yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, titanium and platinum.
White gold is an alloy of yellow gold and is also measured in carats.
Rose gold is a gold and copper alloy with a reddish color so mainly used for specialist jewelry. Rose gold is also sometimes known as red gold or pink gold.
Titanium is a light, strong, corrosion-resistant metal white a white silvery metallic color. Titanium is as strong as steel but has only 60% of it’s density so it is much lighter.
Platinum is a heavy gray white metal resistant to corrosion. Platinum is more precious to gold and it price varies along with it’s availability, normally just under twice the price of gold.
These metals are used on their own, but often white and yellow gold, or two other metals or colors are used together in the same ring to give it an extra special effect, this would be called a two tone ring, sometimes three colours are used in a tri-colored ring.
It is a good idea to have your engagement and wedding ring made out of the same metal if they are going to be worn next to each other. This is because over a period of time a harder metal such as 9ct gold would wear down a softer metal such as 18ct gold.
Many different patterns are available in wedding rings, such as a plain band or a twisted pattern or engraving. Rings can be made of several bands intertwined together so that they move around each other even though they are as one ring. Some of the names of different styles of wedding rings are braided, hammered, Celtic and diamond.
Celtic jewelry is available in many different forms and designs such as Celtic knotwork. The most popular form of Celtic jewelry is the Celtic ring which many people choose for their wedding rings or bands, engagement rings, promise rings and also friendship rings.
Some couples have their names and the date of the wedding engraved into their wedding rings to strengthen the symbolism and sentimentality of the rings as they become family heirlooms.
Wedding rings can cost anything from only a few dollars to thousands upon thousands of dollars. It depends totally on what you are buying, what your budget is and what sort of quality you are looking for.
Wedding rings can be tailor made to suit you, you could choose precious stones to be set into your ring, such as diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, rubies and many more. Birth stones are a personal touch to a ring also as a special idea.
I hope these ideas have helped you along your way to choosing the perfect wedding rings for you and your partner.

Choosing a Perfect Wedding Ring – Lifetime Of Gold or Silver
Do not forget the ring a saying famously drummed into the best man before the wedding, well that goes for the future bride/Groom as well. With all wedding preparations it is quite easy to slip your mind to buy the most important item that makes the wedding ceremony a memorable one. The wedding ring is so important because it bonds two people together and it is the exchange of wedding rings that finalize the vow (I do).
Do a check list of all your wedding plans and be sure that choosing a perfect wedding ring is one of your top priorities besides turning up on the day?
Choosing a wedding ring is not as simple as you think, much thought is needed behind your chosen design. What you have to remember the wedding band binds the happy couple together forever. This ornate piece of Jewelry with so much meaning will be worn every day so we need to choose something pretty special.
Back to your budget which will play an important role when making your choice, because of the penny shortage does not mean that you can not have that piece of warm gold or cool silver, if precious stones were to be embedded or mounted in your actual design then dont expect to many diamonds with just a fist full of dollars.
Jewelry materials like what is used in wedding rings have evolved over the years.
Popular is the 14K/18 yellow gold which you will find more of a favourable option worldwide. Close on its heels is the white gold gaining more popularity by the day.
Why not consider platinum, known to be one of the hardest metals and once again a fine choice in a wedding ring. Platinum is a durable material and therefore able to hold up to any wear and tear. Platinum wedding rings look very similar to rings made of white gold which many can be excused for the mix up but at the end of the day both look stylish and elegant. However, platinum wedding rings are more expensive.
For the man it has to be Titanium which is becoming a favourite among the male species. It is light and long lasting and far less expensive as platinum. Once again Titanium wedding rings can be mistaken for the white gold in appearance.
Styles and what to choose is where you come in, only you know what you are looking for therefore it is wise to shop around before making the final decision, you would never forgive yourself if you see a cheaper ring around the corner and more beautiful. There are so many designs and styles to choose from. You have traditional plain bands to more up market exquisite ones.
Modern society designs are worth checking out. Why not opt for a two-tone wedding band. Celtic wedding rings are famous these days with couples where they bond their marriage with highly carved and engraved work of a craftsman.
In some cases the bride matches her wedding ring with the design of her engagement ring. This also has to be taken into consideration when mixing and matching especially when both rings are worn on the same finger.
It is best to know the ring size if shopping out of a catalogue or online.
By going into a jewellers for the wedding bands will cause you less stress where if the rings are ordered they may not be the right size or wrong design when delivered therefore all the heartache of having to send them back. Now we dont want more heartache than necessary as you have that to come with married life (Only joking)
Online shopping is an easy option just be sure to have the right measurements etc and all should be hunky dory just like the hunk you are about to marry.

Jewish Wedding Rings
A close friend of mine just got engaged with a great expectation that her ring would be the most extravagant Jewish wedding ring of the century. She was, mistaken. Her love story is a rather humorous one.
Janice* (names have been changed) is a typical, well-off Jewish young woman who expected a quite lavish engagement ring, like most of her friends. Janice’s boyfriend took her to a very remote mountaintop accompanied by champagne and a bouquet of red long stemmed roses. While reading a poem by her favorite writer, he got down on one knee and proposed to my friend to be his future wife. However, Janice’s positive reply came before she actually saw the engagement ring. The ring turned out to be a small piece of thread within the velvet box she opened. Her boyfriend did this to see whether or not she would marry him “for better or worse,” as the saying goes.
Janice agreed to marry her rather creative boyfriend and they proceeded to plan their wedding. The wedding was to be the most extravagant wedding of the century. She was, mistaken. Her Jewish wedding story is rather a humorous one as well.
Janice found that the most important element of a wedding was in the ring. Janice’s idea of what she wanted in a Jewish wedding ring was a ring that encompassed all of her family’s Jewish values and heritage wrapped into a loving trinket that would symbolize eternal love in her eyes. In the eyes of her boyfriend, however, it was out of date. This type of ring was old, and he wanted to surprise her with a new modern style ring. In today’s world, Jewish wedding rings, like all wedding rings can be found in a number of settings, ranging in a variety of metals. This was exactly the opportunity to choose the exact representation of devotion and love that Janice’s boyfriend was looking for. He spent hours on the internet looking through the various websites which included mostly judaica until he found the perfect gold ring. The day of the wedding arrived and neither the bride nor the groom knew that their significant other planned on surprising the other with an unexpected wedding ring.
The Wedding Ceremony
Under the canopy or “chuppah” in an Orhodox Jewish wedding, rings are not involved in the ceremony; rather one wedding ring is involved. The ring that the groom gives the bride is the only ring given during the actual ceremony or when a couple is betrothed to each other by an ordained rabbi. When Janice received her ring under the chuppah, her boyfriend, now husband, gave her a very traditional looking, ring. This traditional ring was not what she expected, but he knew it was what she wanted. After the wedding ceremony, Janice gave her husband his wedding ring; it was the exact same ring. Her husband said that he wanted them both to have the same Jewish wedding rings and knew that if he bought her the ring of her dreams, she would buy him the exact same one.
