Ideal Christian Wedding Rings For That Special Occasion
Christian wedding rings have always symbolized fidelity, commitment, love and honor. The Christian faith has been incorporating the exchange of wedding rings for nearly 1200 years which was adapted after centuries of Roman and Greek wedding ceremonies.
Even though there are no biblical references that state it is a requirement for Christians to exchange rings during the marriage ceremony, it has none the less become an integral part of Christian custom to do so. Christian wedding rings not only represent the couples love and commitment to each other but also emphasizes their love of God with the sanctity of their marriage.
The philosophy behind Christian wedding customs is one of honor and simplicity, therefore in the past, Christian couples generally favored simple wedding bands such as plain gold or silver styles over the more elaborate designs. These wedding bands would often have religious quotes or bible verses inscribed in them as a reflection of love and an expression of deep spiritual meaning.
Over the centuries, Christian wedding rings have evolved into many different styles and designs incorporating an array of precious metals and gemstones. Wedding rings today can be quite extravagant and expensive depending on the gemstones and metals used in them. It is no longer considered immodest in choosing a more elaborate ring as it is the message of love and commitment between loved ones that matters the most.
Today it has become quite popular to include biblical verses or religious images inscribed into the rings. Many Christian wedding rings will have images engraved such as doves, fish outlines that familiarly represent the miracles performed by Jesus Christ, footprints encircling the ring, some have crowns of thorns engraved in the design, others will incorporate an assortment of various styles of crosses and many other types of Christian symbols. There are also a great variety of precious metals used today such as titanium, rose gold, platinum, stainless steel and aluminum in place of traditional gold or silver. It is now possible to get some very original and unique wedding ring designs that still keep in theme with traditional Christian customs.
Traditionally, diamonds have tended to be the gemstone of choice for Christian wedding rings in which the stones are often set to reflect Christian images or symbols. These symbols are often formed with the use of multiple diamonds set into the ring to give the desired effect. Many modern Christian rings however will have other types of gemstones incorporated into their themes such as rubies, opals, emeralds and other exotic stones.
Christian wedding rings are not difficult to find. In some cases, if your taste is for a plain traditional ring, then it is really just a matter of visiting your local jewelry store, picking out a plain gold or silver band and have something special engraved on it for your loved one. If you are looking for a more specific type of design, then there are many online sites that sell wedding rings that can give you a clear idea of what styles and designs are available along with the pricing. If you would rather purchase a ring at your local jewelers, then at least by doing some research online, it will make it easier for you to describe what type of ring and design you are interested in.
