I am wondering what kind of jewelry you use for a monroe piercing, would it be like a labret?

I have a labret piercing and I know I can take the jewelry out for at least several days without it closing, and I was wondering how long you can leave the jewelry out in a tongue piercing if you’ve had it for a few years because I would need to take jewelry out during work for my career of choice but I still want to get my tongue pierced.
